How to bake pie crust without shrinkage!
Homemade pies are the most requested desserts in my family. Usually the kind that needs a baked shell without the filling.
I have been trying to figure out how to bake the crust without it shrinking and looking terrible for a very long time.
On Christmas eve I was baking crust, it looked pretty amazing until I put it in the oven for about 5 minutes. As soon as it heated it slipped to the bottom of the pie plate. I took it out of the oven and with a fork painstakingly put all the edges back in place but it didn’t stay.
Then I had a great idea. I put a slightly smaller pie plate on top of the crust and pushed down on the uncooked crust.
To my great surprise it pushed the crust back up the side and back where it should have been. I put it back in the oven and it cooked perfectly. Once the top plate cooled I removed it very easily.
This small but important discovery has made me so happy I wanted to share it with you.
Pie making will be so much easier and less stressful from now on.
